After a few days off we are back with our series on potential new sites for US Players. Today we feature True Poker on the Yahatay Network, a small but growing network with a loose player base.

Network: Yahatay Network
Best Skin: True Poker
Rakeback: 100% up to $750

True Poker is a pretty old website. I remember playing on it back in 2004 when it’s 3D Graphics seemed like a cool feature. It never really caught on, likely due to the rudimentary 3D Graphics and at the time hegemonic presence of Party Poker in the US Market. However in the last few months it has seen a great deal of growth. First Doyle’s Room Poker moved from the Cake Poker Network to the Yahatay Network seeing a large influx of new players. Now in the wake of Black Friday there has been a new influx of players to True Poker. One of the most interesting features is the varying buy in amounts True Poker offers. They offer standard, short stack and deep stacked tables. This makes things a bit more interesting in terms of games and makes it harder for weak players to adapt.

True Poker is one of the few sites that still has a bonus based on “raked hands” rather than points or overall rake. They however require qualified raked hands where the rake reaches $1 so the bonus requirements of 10 Qualified Raked Hands per $1 of bonus money is not as easy to clear as it appears. It is still a large and reasonable bonus and well worth it. The site also features frequent reload bonuses, 27% rakeback through Rakeback Resource, monthly races and other promotions. The reload bonuses are harder to clear, be warned. They require 30 Qualified Raked Hands per $1 of bonus money rather than 10 as the first deposit bonus requires.

The player base on True Poker is small, but very fishy. In traffic it ranks below Cake and well below Merge. So unless you plan to play one or two tables True Poker would likely make an ideal secondary site to play on rather than a primary. If you are a new player looking to start out with low volume and take advantage of fishy play, True Poker isn’t a bad choice. I think the Carbon Poker on the Merge Network provides a better array of promotions, traffic and fish, but True is doing a good job.

The software however needs work. It is a bit archaic and for my money is the most lacking of the three US friendly sites covered so far. The 3D graphics aren’t close to the level of a PKR, and while they do offer a 2D option I hope we see an overhauled client in the near future. Overall True Poker ranks third in terms of options open to US Players, but the fishy player base definitely has appeal as do the different buy in options. Interested in True Poker?
