As we get further down the remaining options for American players we come to Bodog Poker. Bodog Poker has been a player in online gambling for a long time, but has never really gotten traction. Bodog has some bright spots but some glaring problems and oversights that put them clearly in 4th place for US Players.

Network: Bodog
Skin: Bodog Poker
Rakeback: n/a
Bonus: 110% up to $1,100

Bodog Poker ranks about halfway between Carbon Poker and Cake Poker in traffic. The network is very fishy, and pretty obviously targets casual players rather than hardcore grinders. In theory this is good, as it makes for soft games. However, by not featuring frequent reload bonuses or even rakeback Bodog becomes a very disappointing option for a serious player. Even their software seems targeted to casual players. It lacks many of the features that even Cake Poker has now.

Their bonus is as a whole below average. They used to use an interesting tiered bonus that was worth clearing. Now they have switched to a tiered bonus that pays out at a rate of 10 points per $1 of bonus. This works out to 30% rakeback. When most US facing rooms offer more than 30% rakeback you can see why most players have avoided Bodog in the wake of Black Friday.

Instead of rakeback and reload bonuses Bodog has instead tried to offer bigger guaranteed tournaments and overlay in the past. If you are a tournament player this may make them a tempting target, especially as other networks figure out their guarantees in the wake of so many new players joining the networks. After a year of not offering much in the way of promotions they have added some new ones recently. The Cash Persuit gives the players on Bodog a chance to earn small cash bonuses or prizes such as iPads. In the end these can’t match the kind of VIP programs + rakeback other sites offer.

So in the end, Bodog Poker is a site that should be your secondary or tertiary site for play. That is unless you were one of the lucky players to sign up for rakeback before they banned it last year. If you did, that probably brings Bodog up to the level of Cake Poker, but I would still rank Carbon above it. Interested in Bodog Poker?
